Born on the 24th July 1961 in a village named Ramapuram,Brother Ignatius had five sisters and one brother. With a poor family background such as his,it was hardly surprising that he had no serious faith in god.Though he did not have any strong religious conviction,Brother Ignatius naturally found happiness in making and finding the poor and downtrodden happy.Brother Ignatius was drawn into social service towards humanity. He started helping the poor and homeless-people found on the road side,in the bus and railway stations and by the waste-dumps seeking food and sustenance and those who are mentally ill.
Brother Ignatius then came into contact with spritual leaders.Led by these religious leaders and spritually trained by them,he won their blessings and love. And he was found to have the potential of Mother Teresa and was complimented by them.Brother Ignatius strove to attain that selflessness of Mother Teresa. As his poor family could give him no support,he earned his living by buying cheaply the used card board boxes and tattered gunny bags from shops and firms and renewing them to be recycled and made some profit thereby. With the money he managed to save from such a livelihood,he purchased a piece of land by the foot of a hill in 1991. And three years later in 1994,he began the Annai Asramam there and continued his service to the poor and needy.
In the name of the Annai Asramam,Brother Ignatius began his public life of service. With humble cottage he established the Ashram. And now the Asramam has grown big enough to house thirty persons who were disowned or destituted for a variety of reasons. Some are aged orphans, some mentally retarded and some with psychic disorders. The Ashram extends protection to these people and tries to bring happiness and peace in their lives.Brother Ignatius has not married as he wanted to devote his whole life for the cause of the poor and helpless. Now Brother Ignatius has the assistance and help from two more like minded persons namely Brother Dharma and Brother Jeyaseelan. |
